A Herb That Heals: Neem for Skin, Hair & Health

 Over thousands of years, Neem has been used by hundreds of millions of people as a home remedy. Many medical benefits are associated with the neem tree, and because of this, it is highly respected in India. Neem is also called ‘Arista’ in Sanskrit- a word that means ‘perfect, complete and imperishable.’

 Here are some excellent ways in which we can use Neem

 For a healthy complexion & healthy body

 1. Skin mask:

 Neem also has an anti-inflammatory property that reduces acne. The neem oil is believed to relieve skin dryness, skin itchiness, and redness. It also prevents pimples and skin blemishes. To make neem and rosewater face mask, dry a handful of neem leaves and then crush it into a fine powder. Mix the powder with few drops of rosewater to make a smooth paste. This is the perfect homemade anti-acne face mask. This mask clears pimples, reduces marks, and gives skin a radiant glow.

 2. Blood purification:

 In the morning, chewing 4-5 Neem leaves (yes, it’s bitter, but its effects are sweet!) on an empty stomach will help in blood purification – essential for glowing skin. If the bitterness bothers you, mix them with honey, and have or make a solution by boiling neem leaves and drink the strained water. It can also treat all your acne and dark spot problems.

 3.For your eyes:

 Chewing Neem can improve your vision. To treat any kind of irritation, tiredness, or redness, you can also boil some neem leaves, let the water cool completely and then use it to wash your eyes.

 4. Boost immunity:

 Rich in antimicrobial, antiviral, and antioxidant properties, chewing neem leaves can prove very useful in strengthening your immune system. Neem leaves are excellent for your liver, which automatically enhances your digestion. Apart from this, consuming Neem daily also destroys excess bacteria in the intestinal region and cleanses your colon, further facilitating smoother digestion.

 For healthy hair

 1. Hair wash:

 Washing your hair with boiled neem water has been a traditional method to control dandruff and undernourished damaged hair. Neem leaves have anti-fungal properties, which work effectively against a fungus called Malassezia, which causes dandruff. Its immense healing properties have earned Neem the name of scalp savior too.

 2. Hair mask

 Applying neem paste on the scalp has also shown to have positive results as far as hair growth is concerned. Take dry neem powder and slowly pour water in it until you get a grainy paste. Apply it carefully across your scalp using your hands. Let it sit for 30 minutes. Rinse it off with cold water. Neem leaves also stimulate healthy cell division and support hair follicle growth around your scalp region.

 3. Neem oil:

Massaging hair with neem oil is one of the most effective remedies to beat dandruff. Neem oil is available across many stores. However, you can prepare it at home too. Add a few neem leaves to coconut oil and bring it to a boil. Then add a few drops of lemon to it. Rub this oil gently on your scalp, allow it to stay overnight, and rinse it off in the morning with a mild shampoo.

 Neem products come from all parts of the Indian lilac tree. In the past, people have used Neem as a natural remedy for a variety of illnesses. The world too is slowly taking to the fantastic benefits of Neem on hair and skin, it is your time to put it to use and see the effect for yourself.
